As the Italian media covers AC Milan during the international break, most stories regarding player fitness give a mention to the Champions League clashes against Chelsea which will be taking place next month.
And it turns out that the Rossoneri have received some really bad news, as goalkeeper Mike Maignan picked up a calf injury in the match between France and Austria.
Calcio Mercato features a story saying his problem is ‘more serious than expected’, and he should now be out for a period which could extend to a month.
That would obviously stop him from playing against Chelsea, as Milan are facing the Blues on the 5th of October at Stamford Bridge and then on the 11th of October at the San Siro. Between those matches, there’s also an important league game against Juventus.
Maginan’s injury is so serious that the Rossoneri may have to withdraw him from the Champions League squad. With nine appearances this season, the goalkeeper had started in all of their games so far.
Milan are top of Group E with four points after two fixtures. Chelsea, meanwhile, are bottom, with only one point.
