In their Wednesday edition, Portuguese newspaper Record explained Eliaquim Mangala’s transfer to FC Porto had collapsed. In Portugal, a Mangala return was beginning to be expected, with Manchester City set to pay some of the player’s wages whilst he’d be on loan at Porto.
Record said a ‘shark’ had scuppered the Porto return, another club willing to put more on the table financially.
That shark has now been unmasked as Valencia. Plaza Deportiva report that Mangala has arrived to have a medical with the Spanish club, and they’ve even got pictures to prove it.

Indeed, they reckon the French defender has passed the medical, and the transfer is now simply awaiting completion and announcement, which surely should be come very soon.
