On Sunday we covered claims from France’s RMC that Newcastle United have ‘relaunched’ efforts to try and sign Stanley N’Soki from PSG.

Rafael Benitez’s club had been keen during the summer transfer window but the player didn’t want an exit at that stage.

Newcastle have been eager for a loan but PSG’s initial reaction has been to knock it back, but it’s not completely dead.

Monday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Marseille are interested, and they too would be looking at a loan for the rest of the current season.

The French newspaper says, ‘as it stands’, PSG have closed the door. N’Soki also wants to stay at his club for the second half of the season.

However, that stance isn’t ‘fixed’ because he wants to play a big part in the U21 championships this summer, and believes games at club level are important to achieve it.

L’Equipe say ‘several English clubs’ are also keen on the player, with only Newcastle named. The Geordies ‘have indicated’ they’d like to sign him in the next few days, but both they and Marseille would have to wait for a change of mind.
