The approach to this summer’s transfer window has been unusual when compared to most other years.
More so than transfers involving players, it’s managers who have been making the biggest headlines, with several big moves already completed and more expected to happen.
Tuesday saw Carlo Ancelotti depart Everton to return to Real Madrid, and that leaves the Toffees looking for a replacement. Tottenham Hotspur are still in that situation, trying to find the best long term replacement for Jose Mourinho, now at AS Roma.
There’s also been movements with directors, and Fabio Paratici left Juventus as the Serie A side stuttered to the end of the season. He’s already been linked with moves elsewhere, and Tottenham have been placed in the running to appoint him.
Foot Mercato say Spurs have ‘offered him the post’, willing to give Paratici the role of Sports Director. According to the claims, the Italian has several options and won’t be rushing to choose.
Given previous claims with Paratici, there’s a chance this is being used to hype his standing. Had Tottenham been keen on a Sports Director it would have made more sense to appoint him early, and then have him search for the new manager.
