It’s a little hard to keep up with all the controversies Marcos Rojo gets involved in, but you probably remember that he was caught breaking quarantine last week.
The Manchester United owned player was spotted hanging out with friends in the city of La Plata. They were carrying paddle rackets, and were seen entering a sports club.
There’s obviously been a big controversy in Argentina, especially because this wasn’t the first time Rojo was seen breaking quarantine.
Now it turns out that even the club he was at was against his presence. They’ve released a statement saying the entrance wasn’t allowed, and they’ll investigate how the group got in (via TN).
“As a result of having learned through the media that Mr. Marcos Rojo and other people have entered our facilities on the premises of 7 and 602, from The Israelite Literary Center and Max Nordau Library in La Plata, we want to inform members and the whole community the following:
Firstly, in compliance with the Preventive and Mandatory Social Isolation, our institution remains closed, having even offered the municipal authorities our facilities for sanitary use by the community, if necessary, for purposes related to the situation we are experiencing due to the pandemic.
Secondly, neither Mr. Marcos Rojo nor the other people were authorised by our institution to enter the property. We are investigating what happened as a result of which we will take the appropriate measures, but under no circumstances do we approve this flagrant violation of the regulations imposed by the national, provincial and municipal government, adding to the condemnation of the fact.
The effort we make every day to maintain our institution in this context is great, continuing with much of our activities in a virtual way and seeking to maintain the community framework and our links with a city of which we have been a part for more than a hundred years. We reiterate that our headquarters will remain closed while the Preventive and Mandatory Social Isolation is maintained, respecting the measures announced by the authorities. We also repeat our commitment with the Municipality of La Plata and with the local, provincial and national authorities, to facilitate everyone’s healthcare as much as possible, which is a priority.”
Marcos Rojo’s loan spell at Estudiantes de La Plata expires at the end of the month. Even though the club want to keep him for longer, it’s Manchester United who shall have the final word on his future.
