Carlo Ancelotti has been backed to be a big success at Everton by former Watford director Gianluca Nani.
Ancelotti is on the verge of becoming Everton’s new manager after holding talks with the club earlier this week.
Napoli sacked the Italian just over a week ago, but Everton have moved quickly to convince him to move to Goodison Park as they hunt a replacement for Marco Silva.
Ancelotti’s time at Napoli came to a disappointing end as, despite helping them qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League, his side were 18 points short of Inter Milan at the top of Serie A.
That ‘failure’ coupled with a similarly disappointing spell at Bayern Munich, have dented his once rock-solid reputation.
Nani, who is a former director at Watford is having none of that kind of talk, though.
Instead, he insists that Everton are getting themselves a top-level coach who plenty of other clubs would be happy to have.
“In the last four teams he worked in before Napoli he took home victories,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Everton have taken one of the best coaches in the world. Ancelotti gets back in the game with honour and dignity.
“Everton is a traditional team, and I think they have presented an ambitious programme to him.
“I believe in Ancelotti. And it’s easy to believe in him. If he remained still he would have had so many requests; he certainly didn’t accept Everton for fear that nobody would call him.”
