According to a report in the Turkish media, Chelseqa’s David Datro Fofana will have to wait to make his debut for loan club Goztepe.
The 21-year-old joined the Super Lig side on a season long loan deal from Chelsea just before the transfer window closed in Turkey last week.
Aksam have reported on Goztepe’s clash with Kayserispor this weekend and they say the Chelsea loanee will not be risked. Fofana only signed for the Turkish side last Friday and subsequently has only had less than week to train with his new teammates.
The Turkish media outlet say the Ivorian has been put on a special training programme to bring him up to speed with the other players and there are concerns he could pick up an injury if he’s involved in the game against Kayserispor.
Fofana looked to be on the verge of signing for AEK Athens, but a move to Greece collapsed at the last minute, leading to his move to Goztepe.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Burnley, scoring four goals. Fofana is contracted to Chelsea until June 2029.
