Fotomac have reported Fenerbahçe could loan Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia for a season because of a ‘special clause’ in his contract, which is rather convenient for their recent transfer claims.
The Turkish newspaper claim a clause in Kodjia’s contract means he’s allowed to leave on loan for a European team because Aston Villa failed to gain promotion to the Premier League.
It’s been reported Fenerbahçe board member Onder Fırat has met with Kodjia’s agent in France, and the Turkish club have been informed about the contract situation.
Fenerbahçe are reportedly very happy with these developments because they believe it’ll be good business if they can loan a striker like Kodjia for no fee.
The Ivorian striker joined Aston Villa from Bristol City last summer, but, if the clause exists, he could move on in the next window after the club failed to get promotion.
Kodjia’s goals couldn’t help Villa return straight to the Premier League and Fotomac say the striker is currently considering his options because he doesn’t want to play another season in the Championship.
The Turkish media are keen on this rumour, so either they’re inclined to believe something which isn’t true, or Aston Villa have a difficult situation on their hands.
