Barcelona are close to finding an agreement with Chelsea forward Willian to join them on a free in the summer transfer window.
With the January transfer window now closed, the Spanish club are looking ahead to the summer and possible recruits.
One of their targets is to find a new number nine, and while that venture continues, they are focusing on additions elsewhere as well.
One of those is Willian, according to Marca, who report that that the Spanish club are ‘close to closing’ an agreement with the Brazilian.
His current deal with Chelsea is set to expire in the summer, and despite ‘multiple attempts’ by the club to get him to renew, he has stood firm and insisted he wants to find a new club.
Barça are one of the team to have shown ‘the most interest’ in signing him and have met with his representatives on a ‘couple of occasions’ to try and find an agreement.
As he is in the final six months of his contract, Willian can sign an agreement with any club in Europe without breaking any rules.
His representative agency, Sport Invest, are the same group that represents Philippe Coutinho, giving Barcelona something of an advantage over other interested parties.
It’s not the first time the Chelsea forward has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp; indeed he was linked in the January transfer window, but Barcelona prefer to wait and get their man for zero cost at the end of his contract.
