Back in November 2014 when Brendan Rodgers selected an inexplicable team to face Real Madrid away in the Champions League, resting his best players on account of probably losing anyway, there was talk of Los Blancos being baffled.

However, the Madrid club will have been prepared to expect the unusual line-up, because Marca had a journalist watch training the day before the match, at the Bernabeu, who simply worked it out.

On the morning of the match, the Spanish newspaper’s efforts were widely ridiculed, their predicted team dismissed as being from a clueless journalist who clearly didn’t know anything about Liverpool. It turned out to be spot on, that’s why it’s worth paying attention to Marca’s predicted teams, especially when a club train at the Bernabeu, as Tottenham Hotspur did on Monday.

Tuesday evening’s match between Madrid and Tottenham is the source of huge anticipation in Spain, with the home crowd looking forward to seeing Harry Kane and co, and how their team match up.

There’s also a great deal of goodwill towards Mauricio Pochettino, which adds to the positive feeling ahead of the Tottenham match.

On the team front, Marca believe Keylor Navas will be fit enough to return between the sticks for Real Madrid. For Tottenham, they’ve got Davinson Sanchez in a midfield role, which would be something of a surprise.

Will Marca be right like they were with Liverpool? There’s not too long left to find out.
