Spanish playmaker Luis Alberto arrived at Liverpool in 2013 in a €8m deal from Sevilla.

After spending his debut season at the Merseyside club, Alberto was sent on consecutive loan spells to Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna.

Reports suggest Liverpool are looking to permanently offload Alberto this summer despite him enjoying a decent loan spell at Deportivo La Coruna last season. The Reds have put up a price tag of £6m on Alberto, and his former club Sevilla are keen on his services.

The Liverpool Echo reported Sevilla were not prepared to meet his asking price and the deal has been called off.

However, things could turn out differently if you believe in reports in Spain. According to El Pais, Luis Alberto could be arriving at Sevilla, after the departure of Fernando Llorente.

El Pais say Alberto’s return to Sevilla can’t be ruled out, and it remains to be seen if the club are prepared to match his asking price.

The 23-year-old has another couple of years left on his contract at Liverpool, and has managed just 258 minutes of football in a Red shirt.
