Thursday’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS has a feature on Atletico Madrid’s interest in signing Diego Costa from Chelsea. That’s nothing new, because AS seem to have a feature every day on Atletico’s interest in Costa, and have done for many months.
Atletico just won’t give up, and whilst the Madrid media have given up on several occasions, it barely takes them 24 hours to get back to reporting that the move could be a possibility.
The latest hope of progress, and Chelsea softening their stance, is claims the London club have interest in Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
The idea is that if Lukaku went to Chelsea for a huge fee then that would surely mean the exit of Costa, especially given that Chelsea have already signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille, Lukaku’s international teammate.
It’s a long shot, but AS are clinging to it.
