Spanish outlet Estádio Deportivo reports Sevilla were one of the clubs who had scouts at the Europa League match between Braga and Rangers on Wednesday.
The outlet recalls that the Gers’ striker Alfredo Morellos had been linked to the La Liga side a couple of weeks ago, but since he’s missed this match, they point out other talents who were on the pitch.
They say the ‘star of the game’ was Ianis Hagi, and put him in the spotlight. It’s claimed he’s well known by Monchi, since he was ‘on the table’ for Sevilla last summer.
At that time, Romania national team manager Cosmin Contra even advised the player to go to the La Liga side. But he ended up signing for Genk, who loaned him to Rangers in January.
Since his father Gheorghe Hagi is still pretty famous in Spanish football, it’s quite natural that the Rangers star gets big attention from the local media.
Estádio Deportivo adds that ‘other interesting players’ at Steven Gerrard’s side are James Tavernier and Ryan Kent, who scored Rangers’ winner.
There are no claims of Sevilla making moves for any of them, but the club wouldn’t send scouts to Portugal for nothing, so perhaps Rangers’ good exhibition may attract interest from the La Liga side.
