Middlesbrough are reportedly signing Elche’s goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad.

According to Diario Informacion this Monday, Abad spent the morning at the La Liga club’s facilities to break his contract, which was supposed to expire at the end of the season.

Abad would now be going the same way as Víctor Horta and Paco Peral, as both left Elche to join Aitor Karanka at Middlesbrough.

Diario Informacion claims the goalkeepers who’ve worked with Abad consider him to be one of the best goalkeeping coaches in Spain, and he’s considered to be a ‘revolutionary’ in the job.

The announcement of his departure is expected to be done today, even though Diario Informacion can’t say when his work at Middlesbrough will start.

Aitor Karanka’s staff at Middlesbrough is Spanish heavy, with the squad having a Spanish flavour, and Victor Valdes may well be at least partly behind this claimed addition to the club’s back-room.
