Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool to make a ‘financial effort’ for Atletico Madrid’s Marcos Llorente as he looks to reinvent the Reds midfield next season.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say the Spaniard could be sold following Atletico’s failure to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.
That’s left a hole in the club’s finances which will need to be filled, likely with departures in the January transfer window or next summer.
Llorente is one of the players who is ‘most likely to leave’, whose form has declined in recent years under Diego Simeone’s leadership.
Despite this, Jurgen Klopp remains a fan, so much so that he has asked Liverpool to ‘make a financial effort’ to secure his signature for next season.
The Spanish side could be willing to sanction a deal, despite the Simeone having a ‘blind confidence’ in him, and give the green light to let him be one of Liverpool’s ‘bombshells’ during the next summer window.
Big changes are expected at Anfield following their struggles this season, with a new midfielder needed and Llorente apparently one of the players Klopp wants in there.
The 27-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions this season, scoring the one goal.
