If there’s one thing that West Brom appeared to get right on Wednesday, it’s the signing of Allan Nyom from Watford.

The Cameroonian full-back, who impressed at Watford last season, was signed on transfer deadline day by the Baggies as they scrambled around trying to sign too many players in too little time.

The former Udinese player was all set to sign for Espanyol in Spain, where he would have teamed up once again with Quique Sanchez Flores.

That is until West Brom came in like a wrecking ball and destroyed a pretty much done deal.

Sport on Thursday explain everything was signed, and the only piece of the puzzle left was for the player to have his medical on Wednesday.

Unfortunately for Espanyol, Tony Pulis got in the way of that, offered £4m, and convinced the Cameroon international to stay in England.

This, say the Catalan newspaper, was a ‘blow’ to the La Liga club, who thought they’d had the transfer wrapped up on Tuesday night.

Espanyol never got their right-back, in the end, as they didn’t have enough time to get a transfer done.

Tony Pulis 1 – Quique Sanchez Flores 0. Or is it Premier League 1 – La Liga 0? Either way, it’s a win for West Brom.
