Southampton are about to close a deal for the Barcelona defender Marlon, according to claims from Catalonia this evening.
As written by outlet Sport, there’s a ‘total agreement’ between the clubs for the transfer, and it should be made official as soon as the Saints decide it’s time to.
The 22-year-old will cost the Premier League side €12m, with some performance bonuses also included in the deal.
There’s still a chance that Marlon will make the routine preseason medicals at Barcelona on Wednesday, as the final details of the agreement with Southampton are still being sorted. But Sport makes sure to say he’s joining the Saints squad soon.
Sport claims that the player had ‘several’ offers from the Premier League, including from West Ham. But it was really Southampton who attracted him most.
The Brazilian spent the last season on a loan spell at Nice, where he made 27 appearances and was a regular starter in the French league.
There have been so many claims on this, it’s a real ‘wait until he’s holding the scarf’ one.
