On Friday Leeds United confirmed the signing of Mateusz Klich from FC Twente, in a move which was expertly covered by the Dutch media. De Telegraaf said he’d sign on Friday, and that it would be a three year contract, and within hours the newspaper were shown to be correct.
The whole thing is called a ‘soap opera’, but it’s stated Leeds United are ‘very close to closing’ a deal to sign the player.
This all comes down to money. Leeds United are ‘best positioned’ to pay the €3.5m asking price, and once someone meets that figure it’s a deal. Alaves have offered €3m, Granada, Malaga, and Eibar didn’t follow their interest up with offers.
Initially, we suspected Leeds could be being used to flush more money out of Alaves, that may have been us being a little too suspicious. Saiz could be a viable alternative to Lugano’s Ezgjan Alioski.
