Seville regional sport newspaper Estadio Deportivo are reporting on Monday evening that Rafael Benitez has spotted a player in the area he thinks could be good for Newcastle United.
Estadio Deportivo say they’ve learned Benitez has his eyes on Alejandro Viedma, who is described as ‘a fine midfielder’.
The 19 year old has been in the Sevilla youth system since 2010, and is a local Andalusia boy. Not in the first team squad yet, the youngster has been brought into Sevilla’s B side, often referred to as Sevilla Atletico.
With interest from the Premier League, there’s obviously worry at Sevilla over the future of the player. For a while there’s been a concern at the Spanish club that youth products weren’t getting chances and would therefore look to leave, but this is a whole new kind of worry.
There’s no claims of talks with Newcastle or an offer being made, but according to Transfermarkt the player’s contract runs out next month so it may only be a matter of Newcastle United convincing Viedma to move to England.
