Arsenal’s search for a centre-back (and for a striker, for that matter) keeps rumbling on, and Shkodran Mustafi remains the press’ favourite to fill a much needed void.
Rumours have been floating around for a week or so now, with even Manchester United apparently involved at some stage (that died rather quickly), and now Spanish radio make it clear the Gunners still haven’t made the next step to get a deal done.
According to Fran Guaita, a reporter for Cadena SER in Spain, Valencia have made it clear to the Spanish press that they are yet to receive an offer from Arsenal for the German centre-back.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the Premier League club aren’t interested, or won’t make a move for the player in the near future.
It just means nothing has happened yet.
Having sealed the Granit Xhaka from Borussia Mönchengladbach deal very early on in the transfer window, Arsenal fans were hopeful this summer would be different, that Arsène Wenger would get business done early.
Sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case, and fans are bracing themselves for a long, very long, month of August.
