Alfonso Pedraza has now left Leeds United and returned to parent club Villarreal. The 21 year old joined Leeds on loan during the winter transfer window, with the aim being a permanent transfer if Garry Monk got his side promoted.
With Leeds slipping out of the play-off places, the club’s season is now over, and Pedraza is already back with Villarreal. The young attacker spent the first half of the season on loan at Lugo, and did very well, which obviously caught the attention of Leeds.
Spanish newspaper AS report Pedraza will now continue his Villarreal contract, which lasts until June 2019. The return to Spain suggests Leeds have made no serious efforts yet to keep Pedraza, despite the promotion clause not being active.
Villarreal currently have 26 year old Roberto Soriano playing where Pedraza would. The Italian has 9 goals and five assists in La Liga this season, so it’s unlikely they’d ditch him for Pedraza.
If Leeds are interested then it’s quite possible a further loan could be agreed but, given Pedraza is now back in Spain, it’s clear the Championship club are content to see what happens over the summer.
