It all started off so well for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and it looked like the Spanish manager’s switch from Bayern Munich was going to be seamless.

However, cold hard reality began to slap Guardiola around the face and it quickly became apparent his Manchester City squad needed additions in key areas. The January window came and went without much fuss, and then Gabriel Jesus arrived in a deal agreed earlier.

Everything was rosy again, Jesus looked like he’d be the miracle to kickstart Manchester City’s season and perhaps even a title push, but then reality gave Guardiola another slap with the Brazilian’s injury.

Third in the Premier League, all eyes are now to the summer. The Catalan media, so fond of Guardiola, have pretty much absolved the manager of blame and point to a weak squad. There’s some truth in that.

Screen Shot 2017-03-31 at 14.39.23Sport report that Guardiola is set for a revolution, with very few players safe. As many as 17 could leave, and whilst that may be an unrealistic figure, something like 10 certainly isn’t.

Guardiola would then have to replace those leaving, with fullback a particular area of concern. If the maximum changes expected are made then Manchester City players may need to wear name tags during pre-season training.
