There’s been some curious Spanish rumours this summer about Leeds United’s Samu Saiz.
A return to SD Huesca was talked up and then down, and it was even claimed Getafe had offered €7m and Valencia €10m for the Leeds United player.
The claims didn’t get very far in Spain, which perhaps told the real story. Getafe making a €7m offer for anyone would be a big story for the club’s local media, and Valencia have their every possible move covered by dedicated newspapers, websites and radio stations.
Now the claims are back, but again not from the mainstream Spanish sport media.
El Gol Digital claim that Saiz is an alternative for Valencia if they fail to sign Goncalo Guedes from PSG. The Portuguese international spent last season on loan at the Spanish club, but PSG and Valencia have not yet been able to find a deal for the player’s return.
Huesca, now in Spain’s first division, are also thrown in again, but it’s made clear getting Saiz from Leeds would be difficult.
Even if the claims were true, it’s got to be considered near impossible that Leeds would sell a senior player given the start they’re having under Marcelo Bielsa.
Getafe and Huesca almost certainly wouldn’t be able to get near a fee to even tempt the English club, and Valencia likely have other options.
