When Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany suffered their recent injury setbacks, it wasn’t too hard to predict they’d be off to Spain for treatment.
Dr Eduardo Mauri is set to take up an official role with Manchester City and a couple of weeks ago we covered claims from Spain that Dr Ramon Cugat had accompanied him in talks with the Premier League club.
Both men had worked with the Quiron group, who have probably treated more professional footballers than any other club-external medical facility.
Thibaut Courtois, Jan Vertonghen, and Vincent Kompany had all made the journey to Spain in recent years, so the Manchester City Belgians were obviously set to travel.
The Catalan media have covered the trip, given that both players were pictured at the airport, and Sport say that De Bruyne’s intention is to shorten his Manchester City lay-off and be back for the Manchester United ELF Cup match on October 26th.
Sport point out Pep Guardiola has great confidence in Dr Cugat, because as well as treating some of the biggest names currently in football, Cugat also treated the Manchester City manager when he was a player.
