Samu Saiz to Getafe has been something of a whirlwind transfer.

On Thursday evening the Spanish club’s president Angel Torres attended a dinner talk and was frank about several things. When it came to signing Saiz, Torres made clear he was the player set to arrive but wouldn’t outright name him through fear of angering Leeds United.

Torres even suggested Saiz could be in the stands to watch his new club against Real Sociedad last Saturday, and would have a medical over the weekend.

The last part of that seems likely to have been true, with the deal being announced on Monday.

Getafe and Leeds have both kept the details minimum, saying Saiz is moving on loan with a purchase option, but without revealing the amount of that summer clause.

In their Tuesday edition, Marca reveal it’s €6m, so a reasonable investment for Getafe.

Interestingly, it’s also probably enough for Leeds to sign Ibai Gomez from Alaves in January.
