Everton look set to have a busy summer this year as Marcel Brands hopes to reshape the squad further.

With several departures expected from Goodison Park, bolstering the squad is a priority.

Andre Gomes looks set to complete a permanent move, although when that will happen is anyone’s guess, while Kurt Zouma is another target. Adding a striker to the group is considered a top concern for the Blues.

So far, though, there has been little talk of Everton interest in any forwards. That may be changing. Estadio Deportivo believe they are interested in Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias.

According to the newspaper, Everton have been bidding ‘strongly’ for the 26-year-old since January.

The striker could leave Espanyol this summer after scoring 20 goals in all competitions last season, 17 of which came in La Liga. West Ham United are another Premier League side to be actively interested in his services.

Indeed, Iglesias was recently asked about a potential move to the London Stadium this summer, after his close friend Roberto, joined the club this summer. He seemed to pour cold water on such a suggestion.

And whether Everton’s interest is genuine is debatable. They do need a striker this summer, but they were stung badly by Sandro Ramirez in the past.

At 26-years-old and with only one year of La Liga football under his belt as well, Iglesias doesn’t fit into Marcel Brands’ preferred model either.

This seems more like someone looking for a potential rival to West Ham and landing on Everton than genuine interest.
