Spanish newspaper Marca have a big article in their Tuesday edition on Newcastle United’s summer spending. It’s pointed out that so far this summer, Newcastle have spent more than La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The Spanish newspaper believe Benitez is being backed by Newcastle to a huge extent, in an effort to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Newcastle’s financial strength, and the will to use it, can also keep players at the club this summer. Marca say Benitez is going to be backed to keep Moussa Sissoko at the club, regardless of the player’s repeated comments about leaving.
The club will try to keep the Frenchman, and Marca say that’s reflected in an asking price of £35m. It’s believed that’s not just a headline figure, but Newcastle showing they and Benitez are not to be messed about with this summer.
Sissoko either finds a club to pay a very big fee, or he better get used to the idea of Championship football.
