We may be a Premier League focused website, but Valencia CF are somehow managing to be part of our routine lately.
The club are desperate to get out of their threatening position in the La Liga table, so the race for new signings is well covered.
According to reports from the Spanish media today, the club are considering a move for two Chelsea players during the winter market.
Superdeporte claims that the argument to sign both of them is the lack of game time they’ve been having under Antonio Conte.
One of them is Branislav Ivanovic. The player’s contract is expiring at the end of the season, so he can sign a pre-contract in January.
As the Serbian hasn’t received an offer to extend his deal at the Stamford Bridge, he’d be an easy target, despite the competition.
The other one is Michy Batshuayi, who lives a different situation. After signing for €39m from Olympique Marseille last summer, the player has only 76 Premier League minutes this season.
Superdeporte doesn’t give any detail to say if Valencia would try a loan or a permanent signing, even though a short spell would be the most obvious solution for now. Even that would be very unlikely.
The Spanish media have been linking to many names to Valencia lately, so we know it’s impossible they’ll sign all f them. Batshuayi, for example, would be part of a list of strikers which has West Ham’s Simone Zaza as a priority. We reckon Ivanovic would be a much easier case, even though there are Italian clubs in the race as well.
