Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of signing Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the Blues are ready to pay €25m for the left-back.
The story says that Antonio Conte knows the player well from his time in Serie A, and his intention is to have him used at left-back so he can use his current Spanish fullback Cesar Azpicuelta on the right.
Alonso left Real Madrid’s youth levels in 2010 to join Bolton Wanderers. In 2013, he was sent on a free transfer to Fiorentina, where he’s been since. He also had a short loan spell at Sunderland in 2014, but since going back to Italy, Alonso has seen his reputation rise.
Last week, the Italian media had already reported that Chelsea and Fiorentina were in talks for the transfer. It seems things have developed over the weekend, at least according to Marca.
