Chelsea have over the past few weeks been linked with every conceivable goalkeeper target as the club prepare for life after Thibaut Courtois.
The Belgian international only has a year left on his contract and has made it clear he sees his future away from Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid is the planned destination, but first Chelsea need to get themselves a replacement in.
After claims earlier on Monday that Chelsea could trigger the €100m buyout clause of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, now there’s another La Liga target.
AS report Chelsea have chosen Kepa Arrizabalaga as Courtois’ replacement and are willing to pay his €80m buyout clause. There would be no other way to convince Athletic Club Bilbao to sell the player, it just doesn’t work like that for the Basque club.
Kepa is said to see the potential move ‘with good eyes’ and the proposal put forward by Chelsea, which surely relates to personal terms, is said to be very attractive.
The 23 year old only renewed his contract when a move to Real Madrid failed in the January window.
