Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has been convinced to sell Bojan to Middlesbrough because of the player’s ‘desire’, reports Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo on Saturday.
Middlesbrough have been repeatedly linked to Bojan over the past week or so, and it was initally unlikely Stoke City would sell, especially given the questions marks over Wilfried Bony.
However, if the Catalan newspaper is to be believed, their compatriot’s wish for a move, to a club where he’d hopefully get more prominence, looks to have changed things.
Mundo Deportivo believe Middlesbrough and Bojan will have to wait because Hughes wants to bring a Stoke addition in before sanctioning the sale. Even then, Stoke aren’t willing to sell Bojan on the cheap.
Even though Hughes has accepted Bojan’s desire, Stoke will only let the player go should Middlesbrough pay a reasonable fee, and that’s where negotiations may struggle, at least for a while.
With only 475 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, Bojan is well aware he needs to be kicking on.
Very highly rated as a youngster at Barcelona, Bojan is now 26 years of age and hasn’t come close to fulfilling his potential.
Another Premier League move may not be ideal for Bojan’s style, but there’s not a lot of options at the moment.
