Paul Pogba Mundo Deportivo Deptember 2ndIt’s not only the Real Madrid friendly press who like to push the ‘If we’d wanted Paul Pogba then we would have had him’ line, the Catalan media are getting involved too.

Pogba signed for Manchester United this summer in the biggest deal of the market, and those deals more often than not involve one of Spain’s biggest two clubs.

This time around they were left out, and there have many explanations that the decision was entirely theirs.

In their Friday edition, Mundo Deportivo say Barcelona had negotiated an option with Juventus to buy Pogba, but decided not to use it because of the demands made by agent Mino Raiola, and because Pogba himself would have brought a ‘tactical anarchy’ due to the way he plays.

Therefore it’s curious that Barcelona ever had any interest in the first place. An option with Juventus is likely to have been worthless in practice, but Spain’s top two clubs are likely to continue this line for years – Pogba only joined Manchester United because they allowed him to.
