Sevilla defender Diego Carlos will join Aston Villa in a deal worth between €35-40m after the two clubs came to an agreement.

That’s according to AS, who back up the reports from England regarding the Brazilian but offer a higher transfer fee.

They report that Carlos will leave for a figure between €35m and €40m, which is more than the £26m that has been quoted in England.

Either way, a deal is now set to be completed, with the newspaper saying Aston Villa reached an agreement with their Spanish counterparts, something both clubs have confirmed on social media.

According to the newspaper, Carlos is now set to leave Andalucia to travel to Birmingham, where he will undergo a medical and complete his move to Aston Villa.

That will bring an end to a three-year stay with Sevilla, who he joined in 2019 from Nantes and made 136 appearances for, winning the Europa League in 2020.

Update: Estadio Deportivo, local to Sevilla, have the following to say: ‘In the final negotiations formulas were worked on for Aston Villa to reach the threshold of €50m with a series of variables of varying complexity.’
