Arsenal fans, we have a curious one.
In a teeny-weeny article in their Wednesday edition, AS say Arsenal want Saul.
Indeed, it’s such a small article we may as well translate the whole thing: ‘Arsenal are fixed on Saul for next season according to what is noted in England. The Atletico midfielder is one of the most sought-after players at Atletico, although he wants to remain in Madrid.’
But, as far as we can see, there’s been no big English song and dance about Saul to Arsenal recently.
What we have managed to find is an AS online article from yesterday.
That explains Arsenal are well aware they need to do a big rebuilding ahead of next season, and therefore are looking at exciting new targets for Arsene Wenger’s side.
There’s a suggestion Arsenal have made some sort of contact, but that a Saul transfer is near impossible. Atletico have the midfielder on a contract lasting until 2026 (Yes, you read that right) with a buyout clause of €150m.
And he doesn’t want to move anyway.
We’re not sure what AS are up to here, but their online article doesn’t mention reports from England, and their newspaper articles does, but doesn’t mention their own online article.
Your guess is as good as ours.
When this ends up blow up in the English tabloids, be aware it comes from very odd beginnings.
