Southampton manager Claude Puel has been linked with the vacant job at Inter Milan after the recent sacking of Stefano Pioli. The Frenchman has had just one season with the Premier League side, but, reportedly, could be heading to Serie A this summer.
TMW have claimed Inter Milan are again interested in the Southampton boss after they previously considered appointing him to replace Roberto Mancini last season. Inter Milan’s preference is to bring in a coach with experience in Serie A, but they are prepared to overlook this in order to install Puel.
TMW have suggested Puel is unhappy the Southampton board didn’t back him in the transfer market, and subsequently he could walk away from the club. The Italian club are now expected to make an approach for the former Nice and Lille manager, and a decision on Puel’s future is likely soon.
Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, Roma’s Luciano Spalletti and Chelsea’s Antoni Conte have also been linked with the post.
The Italian media are racing through names for the Inter job, and Puel is the latest. There’s probably little in the claims at this stage, and the same goes for TMW’s claims over Puel’s anger at Southampton transfer business.
