While Tuttosport cannot seem to let go of their apparent obsession with sending Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia to Tottenham, Gazzetta dello Sport have other plans for the centre-back.

Looking at who the Serie A side could buy at full-back, the Italian newspaper also list the players likely to exit the San Siro in the coming weeks, and Ranocchia is part of them.

However, rather than sending him to White Hart Lane, Gazzetta feel a different part of London is more suitable for the former Inter Milan captain, with West Ham apparently the only team left in the fight.

Having rejected Hull City, the 28-year-old could end up at the London Stadium, but there’s a big problem with this, and it’s called José Fonte.

Clearly keen to sign a new centre-back this January to plug a leaky defence, Slaven Bilic appears to have thrown all his eggs in the Southampton defender’s basket, and an £8m transfer is close to being completed, according to the English press, after Claude Puel’s defender requested a transfer this January.

With a new forward also a priority, we can’t really see the Hammers signing another defender on top of the Southampton man, meaning there is only a small chance of Andrea Ranocchia signings for West Ham this January.

And we’re being generous here.
