Aleix Vidal has been playing actual football for the actual Barcelona team recently, which is something of a surprise. The former Sevilla fullback was somewhat ostracised by manager Luis Enrique, leading to inevitable transfer claims.

Catalan newspaper Sport go over the situation on Christmas Day and say that Swansea City and Southampton have already submitted proposals to sign the footballer, but so far they’ve both been knocked back.

The Premier League clubs apparently do not meet the ‘sporting goals of the player’.

Things haven’t gone swimmingly all the time since Claude Puel took over but the club is steady and Vidal could probably consider himself lucky to get an offer from Southampton.

Barcelona’s opinion at the moment is that Vidal will probably leave in the summer, but they’re not as keen to force a January transfer as perhaps they once were.
