Southampton edged past Watford on Saturday in a 4-3 thriller at Vicarage Road. Troy Deeney opened the scoring for Watford, but it didn’t take long for Southampton to find their feet and Dusan Tadic replied for the away side.
Nathan Redmond put Southampton into the lead before Watford then levelled, Manolo Gabbiadini scored his now customary goal before Redmond added another, with Abdoulaye Doucoure scoring a late tap in to make the scoreline look a little better for Watford.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport were impressed with Redmond’s contribution against Watford and have named the Southampton player in their European Team of the Week.
One of three Premier League players to make the cut, Redmond was joined by Artur Boruc and Harry Kane. Other notable names in the selection included Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema.
Redmond now has 5 goals and one assist in the Premier League so far this season, slowly starting to justify Southampton’s faith in the player.
