Southampton continue to be mentioned among the clubs tussling to sign Jean-Clair Todibo.
Watford have been linked with the Barcelona player for some time, and the Saints were brought in more recently. There’s also been a couple of links with Everton, although the Spanish media appear to have dropped the Toffees from the running.
Wednesday’s edition of Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports the player has five proposals ‘on the table’ for a move in the winter market. Those proposals are said to be from Southampton, Watford, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and AS Monaco.
Tobido himself is currently on holiday and will make a transfer decision when he returns. Mundo Deportivo explain that whilst he’d like to stay and fight for a place at Barcelona, he wants to speak to the club to find out if he has any genuine chance going forward.
Should Tobido decide to move then Barcelona will assess the proposals they have for the defender. Ideally, they’d prefer a loan or a sale with a buyback option, not wanting to lose control over the player’s future.
Southampton will have to wait.
