Southampton have stepped in to sign Juventus’ Filip Kostić before the transfer window closes on Friday.
That’s according to Alfredo Pedullà, who says an offer from Southampton arrived a short while ago.
He makes no mention of the details of the proposal and it’s likely that Southampton have made this offer to the player. The journalist claims the 31-year-old will ‘carefully evaluate’ the Saints proposal.
The Premier League has always been the ‘reference league’ for Kostić. This indicates the Serbia international would be open to making a switch to England.
Russell Martin’s side aren’t alone as Al-Ain have made an offer to the former Eintracht Frankfurt man. As well as these two clubs, there’s an unnamed team in the background.
Pedullà claims the left wing-back, who can also operate as a winger or a left-back, ‘can leave’ the Serie A side in the next few days. Southampton will be waiting for his decision, after making an offer.
Over the past few weeks, the Italian media have regularly named Crystal Palace as one of the contenders to sign Kostić. The journalist makes no mention of the Eagles in his report.
