Southampton are ‘working hard’ during their pre-season training camp in Velden, with manager Ralph Hasenhüttl’s and his team praising the location.
The Saints are currently preparing for the new campaign in Hasenhüttl’s homeland until July 20th, with Kronen Zeitung covering their visit today.
They say the Southampton boss ‘has been sweating’ with the rest of his team at Lake Wörthersee since Wednesday, having travelled to Austria for the last four years.
“We have top conditions here, and the surroundings are perfect,” they quote Hasenhüttl as saying about the location.
“We have a lot of plans here in the camp; we are working extremely hard. This is also my fourth year with the club,” added co-trainer Richard Kitzbichler.
The newspaper explains that Southampton have taken a team of 50 men to the camp, including ten coaches.
They’re currently staying in a ‘posh castle hotel’ directly on the lake and cycle two kilometres to the training sessions on the pitch. “That suits us fine, for warming up,” Kitzbichler is quoted as saying about the setup.
The trip will also see them playing a couple of friendlies, first against RB Leipzig on Saturday before a clash against Austria Klagenfurt, where Hasenhüttl’s son Patrick plays, on Monday.
So, if you weren’t feeling jealous of footballers and the luxury locations they’re visiting this summer, think of Southampton in their castle by the lake and build that envy back up.
