Jacek Bąk believes Southampton defender Jan Bednarek would be playing at a better club and should consider a move abroad.
The 28-year-old has been a regular for the Saints during their struggles this season, but Bąk believes the central defender should find a new club.
Speaking to Super Express, who have compared Southampton’s situation to that of the Titanic sinking, the former Poland captain said Bednarek should consider playing in Italy or France.
The 51-year-old believes the Southampton player can take a different direction in his career and he thinks the defender has the potential to play for a club which competes in Europe.
“He should try his hand at a much better club, go to Italy or France. I think he could have proven himself in a slightly better club. He is conscientious, reliable. He could take a different direction. Italy? France? He has the potential to play in a team that fights in European cups. On the other hand: he went to Aston Villa and bounced off it. At that time, it was a club a bit better than Southampton,” said the former Poland international.
Southampton were promoted back to the English top flight last season, but see themselves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table. They have picked up just six points and are currently ten points from safety.
Their poor form recently cost Russel Martin his job, but Ivan Juric hasn’t been able to turn things round since his arrival last month.
