Southampton righ-back Cedric Soares has given a nice interview to Portuguese newspaper Record this Friday, where he mainly spoke about Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Manchester United.

After having won the Euro with Portugal, the player expects to get his second title in a row, this time on a club level.

“Of course there is that anxiety already”, says the 25-year-old, who started both of the semifinal matches against Liverpool, “We have been preparing well, the fact that we had no game last weekend allowed us to do period in Spain, in a different environment, with other airs and in a more concentrated way. We are very confident and when you play a final, the most important thing is to win it”.

CapturarWith only two career goals, Cedric isn’t used to score any frequently. But even though he still waits for the first time for Southampton, he hopes it comes against United.

“All players like to score goals and I also try to score them, although this is not my main mission. However, I hope to get it soon and God wants it to be this Sunday “

Questioned which headline would he like to see on Monday’s papers, he says: “That’s a difficult question. Maybe ‘Wembley Champions’. If I score the goal… ‘Wembley hero’ would be a good title (laughs)”.

Asked about the constant news which link him to a Barcelona move, Cedric didn’t want to feed it much, but wouldn’t deny such transfer either: “It’s always good! Any player, regardless of the club he represents, likes to see teams of this magnitude interested, without ever deviating from his focus. More motivation to continue working. It’s a sign that I’m on the right track. “

He also spoke about playing in other league in the future: “The Premier League is one of the strongest leagues in the world, but there are others that are very competitive with big clubs and I have always admired that since I was little.

“I challenge myself every day to be better, I always ambition and so I will continue because I believe that only in this way can you reach the top. However, I do not think about it. Everything happens naturally.”
