There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Besiktas are interested in signing Southampton forward Paul Onuachu ahead of the next window.
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor and impressed during his time in the Super Lig.
Milliyet today report on Besiktas’ plans for the January transfer window, and they say the Istanbul side are accelerating their efforts to bring in new players in the winter market.
It’s claimed the Southampton player is a possibility for the Black Eagles and that they will knock on Southampton’s door in the new year.
Besiktas manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is reportedly keen to sign a centre forward and provide competition for current No.9 Ciro Immobile. There are no reports if the Super Lig side will look to loan or purchase the Southampton man.
Onuachu has struggled to get playing time with the Saints this season and there have been reports he’s been eyeing a return to Turkey with Trabzonspor.
However, the Trabzon club failed in their attempts to sign him in the summer and Besiktas could now give him the opportunity to again play in the Super Lig.
He’s contracted to the Premier League side until June 2026.
