In February, we covered claims from Italy of Southampton interest in Gianluca Scamacca.

The Premier League club were joined by AC Milan and AS Roma with their interest in the Ascoli player.

Then in March, there were claims Crystal Palace were also interested, and now there’s something rather more concrete about Southampton.

Il Milanista are covering the AC Milan interest, and it very much sounds like they’ve been in contact with the player’s agent Paolo Paoloni.

In an exclusive, it’s stated three Premier League clubs have been in touch with Paolini to ask about a transfer, and Southampton are the only one named. As it stands, the Saints are ‘pressing’ to sign Scamacca, and have asked for information about a potential transfer.

The fee involved isn’t mentioned, but Southampton would have to negotiate with Sassuolo, as Scamacca is only on loan at Ascoli.

At 21 years of age, the striker has scored 11 goals and added an assist in 25 matches this season.
