Southampton may soon see their chance to sign Adam Nagy slip away. The Premier League club weren’t too far away from concluding a deal to sign Nagy, but new manager Claude Puel put a hold on things.

Puel wants to secure the players he already has before bringing in other options, and so the Nagy transfer was paused. French newspaper L’Equipe explained on Friday that Puel stopped the deal for Nagu, despite advanced negotiations.

Nagy himself has been presented with new options, and they’re quite attractive ones too. Portuguese newspaper A Bola explain on Sunday that a deal to join Benfica is building, and the player himself is quoted as saying his style suits that of the Portuguese club.

It’s not completed yet, and if Southampton want to take advantage of their long term scouting and recommendations to sign Nagy, then they need to get a move on. Footballers are hardly likely to hang around for Puel to take action.
