Diario de Noticias de Álava report Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino is set for court action against his former club. Pellegrino left Alaves during the summer, later going on to become new manager at Southampton, following the exit of Frenchman Claude Puel.
The Spanish claims would suggest that exit wasn’t on the best terms. It’s stated Pellegrino believes he and his former Alaves staff are due a bonus for getting the club to the final of the Copa del Rey, a competition they ended up losing to Barcelona.
Diario de Noticias de Álava explains Pellegrino isn’t so concerned about the money, around €100k, for himself but more for his staff which it means a lot more to.
Super Deporte have since carried a reaction from Alaves, who claim the Southampton manager has received every bonus due to him, as have his former staff at the club.
It’s claimed Pellegrino is actually pushing for a bonus which was only due to players, and Alaves ‘considers that it shouldn’t pay twice for the same concept’.
This one could get messy for the Southampton boss.
