Southampton’s Carlos Alcaraz will need to do something drastic to convince Juventus to buy him in the summer, with his latest audition not going to plan.
That’s at least according to Tuttosport, who cover the youngster’s latest disappointing display for the Italian giants.
Alcaraz joined Juventus on loan in the January transfer window in a deal that includes an option for it to be made permanent.
Everyone at Southampton seemed to be very pleased with this at the time and there was a hope they would be set for a major windfall come this summer if Alcaraz could impress.
Instead, things have not worked out that way at all and his latest appearance won’t have moved Juventus any closer to decision to buy him either.
Tuttosport explain he was handed the chance to impress in Friday’s 2-2 draw with Cagliari, starting in place of Weston McKennie.
This was a ‘golden opportunity’ for the youngster to make his mark but instead he proved to be ‘clumsy and bungling’, struggled when he had the ball and was eventually hooked at half time and replaced by Kenan Yildiz.
It was a ‘timid starting point’ for the Southampton loanee, who had the chance to make his mark after being missing through injury, and instead appears to have completely fluffed his lines.
There’s time for that to change, of course, but with various other reports making it clear Juventus want a discount from Southampton as it is, this will have done little to change their mindset.
