Maybe Southampton fans will see Cedric Soares back playing for the club in the 2019/20 season.

Although the right-back has just completed a loan move to Inter Milan with the Italian side getting an option to buy him, local reports say the Nerazzurri already have a decision about his future.

Journalist Andrea Losapio from Tutto Mercato Web says Cedric Soares has only been a quick January fix for Inter Milan, since they needed a replacement for the injured Šime Vrsaljko.

The Serie A side even tried other options such as Matteo Darmian and Davide Zappacosta, but both were considered too expensive. As Southampton accepted Cedric to be loaned out for only €500k, that was considered practically a free signing for them.

Losapio writes it’s ‘hard to think’ that Cedric is staying after the summer, since he was a temporary solution and left Inter free to plan the signing of another right-back next summer.

So maybe Southampton are never getting the €11m from the buying option the Nerazzurri had.
