Making his first appearance in front of the media following his loan move from Southampton to Inter, Cédric Soares was in a very cheerful mood.
Clearly delighted with the transfer, the Portugal international said all the right things, including how good his first impressions of the club were and declaring himself ready to start straight away should Luciano Spalletti need him in the upcoming game.
Speaking of which, Cédric might be a bit too keen to play for Inter.
He said, relayed by Calciomercato: “We haven’t discussed where I would play. I’m used to playing on the right, even if I have been on the left a few times. I’m completely at the manager’s disposal, and if he gives me gloves, I can also play in goal.”
While we doubt that will ever happen, it’s always good to know in case of an emergency.
As for what the future holds for him, since Inter have the power to make the transfer permanent if they so wish, the Southampton loanee explained he wasn’t thinking about that.
He said: “I’m just looking to give my best on and off the pitch. I have so much confidence in my abilities and will give 100% every time without focusing on an eventual transfer.”
During his time at Southampton, which has spanned from 2015 until now (he’s still contracted until 2020), the Portuguese right-back has made 119 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and picking up 10 assists.
